Please Help These Feet Fit Into My Stilettos

By Dr. Suzanne Levine

High heeled shoes today are like work of art, which means that comfort is not their primary purpose.  Even if they don’t fit at first, there are treatments that enable women to wear them and love wearing them!

  • Injections of implants, such as Sculptra, to the balls of the feet plump up the area where age can take its toll. Suzanne Levine has been a huge improvement in people’s overall well being through this procedure stating, “Even by the age of 25, your feet have seen a lot of miles.  This ‘lunchtime’ procedure can really put the spring back into your step!”

  • Exfoliation using Microdermabrasion will not only help even out your feet’s skin tone, but will help to remove those pesky hard skin areas that can cause any amount of problems. Microdermabrasion is a technique that uses aluminum-oxide crystals to rejuvenate the feet; people swear by the results it gives on the face and now the feet can benefit from this pampering.

  • Painful bunions can be removed with the minimum of fuss. This procedure will narrow your feet, making your feet fit more comfortably in all your shoes, and avoid the predicament of having to keep your feet covered when strappy shoes are de rigueur.

  • Custom-made footpads such as orthotics can help to cushion your feet. Orthotics are made-to-measure, and Levine especially recommends them for active people such as runners.  “You’re putting a lot of strain on your feet, why not comfort them?”  Dr. Levine, a keen runner herself, uses orthotics as a matter of course.

  • Unsightly corns can be removed with laser treatment, which is one of the fastest growing trends that Levine sees at her Park Avenue Clinic, Institute Beaute.

  • Sometimes, the use of over-the-counter inserts for backless shoes, such as Dr. Scholl’s, improve back pain, and reduce the burning on the soles of the feet that occurs when wearing high heels.

  • Following these tips will help to improve your tolerance of high heels. Levine uses her signature Foot Facial, reflexology, and acupuncture to eliminate the stress on your feet from teetering in your stilettos.
